Philosophy
Bright Star Child Care is a learning environment that nurtures and respects the different gifts and variety in learning styles that each child brings to the classroom community. Our educational focuses on building a strong foundation in social-emotional development. We serve ages from 6 months to 5 years old. We open from 8 AM to 6 PM, Monday to Friday.
We build empathy, collaboration, independence, creativity and confidence by allowing children to be authors of their own learning. Active, expressive learning is emphasized, and brought to life through our emergent curriculum.
We believe that all children have their own unique sense of identity and individual needs. Children learn in different ways and at different times, and believe all deserve to be treated with equity and fairness. They have the right to self-expression and to make decisions and choices that influence their learning and well being. When nurtured and valued, we believe that children are empowered as capable and competent learners.
Play is essential in the development of children, and we celebrate the abundant learning that comes with it. Play is meaningful when interests are acknowledged and children are involved and contribute to decision-making. We embrace children’s ability to explore, create, problem solve, collaborate and imagine when they play. We incorporate intentional teaching and child-led learning into our practice, to allow opportunities for all learning styles and recognise special and additional needs.
Health & Safety
Bright Star Child Care is located at Alameda, California, an ideal location for families living in Alameda and Oakland. Children can start at the age of 6 months and stay with us until the age of five. Our classrooms are bright and airy, and provide the children with ample room for all the activities our nursery offers.
Our goal is to provide a safe and caring environment, where children can gain a positive approach to school and learning. They will learn to care for, and respect each other, whilst learning how to be part of a group. Good nursery education is crucial to a child's formative years, and fosters an enthusiasm and confidence that will remain with them throughout their school life.
Our experienced and dedicated staff help the children to become successful learners, confident individuals, and caring contributors to society. The children learn through play and structured lessons, with a balance of free choice.
It is widely accepted that children in this age group absorb and achieve more than at any other stage in their school life, and this makes choosing the right nursery school vital.
